"A Library is like the best person you know - politely quiet but endlessly informative, amazingly knowledgeable, but charmingly discreet, open to everyone yet subject to your every whim, and sadly, flammable if one isn't careful. Be careful with yours. ~Lemony Snicket
Lake City Area Schools Libraries
Lake City High School Library
Even though I know that the Lake City High School Library is not the prettiest, it is mine and I love it! Last year I was awarded a $7000 community grant to create comfortable collaborative areas for my students which explains the couches and chairs that match nothing else in my Library but each other. Slowly but surely I am trying to make the Library a cozy and inviting place for learning. A fresh coat of paint is scheduled for application this summer and I am hoping to dress things up a bit more with a splash of color. The lack of color has never stopped students from enjoying their time in the High School Library. Teachers come here to check out books and use our computers with their classes. Our art students display their art pieces throughout the year and lunch hour is a favorite time for hanging out with friends.
Lake City Middle School Library
The Middle School Library is also a work in progress. Mrs. Kathy Swinehart is my Middle School Librarian and she definitely goes above and beyond when it comes to making this little library the most interesting place in the Middle School. All on her own, Mrs. Swinehart hosts three Scholastic Book Fairs, helps with Math Intervention Time, keeps track of the two computer labs, two mobile labs, and her own computer stations, and still finds time to create an amazing Middle School Yearbook.
Lake City Elementary School Library
The Lake City Elementary Library has always been my favorite Library at Lake City Area Schools. Mrs. Tanya Baldwin and Mrs. Kimberly Brooks are my Elementary Librarians and they are a force to be reckoned with. Mrs. Baldwin can tell you where any book in the Library can be found and is always an incredible resource when it is time to make our yearly new book order. Mrs. Brooks works with me in the High School Library for part of the day and is the hardest working person I have ever met. Together they make the Elementary Library a warm and welcoming place for students to escape into the world of books.
