Approaches to Educational Research
Course Instructor: Dr. David Wong
Spring 2011
Course Description: This course focused on educational research and how to use it to inform our professional practice. It was the first and only MAET class I had that used Facebook as the platform for our class discussions. Being aware of ongoing educational research is such an important part of the teaching profession and this class really brought that concept home using both the class readings and the course projects.

Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners Course Instructor: Jen Knight Spring 2012 Course Description: This course is a required course for all educators in the State of Michigan who are pursuing their Professional Teacher's Certificate. The focus of the course is for teachers to learn about effective literacy instruction and assessment. There was an awful lot of reading for this course, but even though the sheer amount was sometimes daunting, the quality of the readings was second to none. **Click here to view a Google Doc of my final project and the project artifacts for TE 846.** |

Teaching and Learning Across Curriculum Course Instructor: Dr. Rand Spiro and Hannah Klautke Fall 2012 Course Description: This was one of the most interesting courses I have taken in my MAET program. Dr. Spiro is a true innovator in the realm of online learning and his theories on Cognitive Flexibility and Constructivist Learning were new concepts to me. The course pushed me to search the web in new ways to create deeper learning and to help my students do the same. One of our class projects involved watching a Manuel Lima RSA presentation about "The Power of Networks". (See video below.) We used this video as a basis for a "non-linear" web search. The documents below are the culmination of that project. |
